5S

What is 5S?

5S is a tool to make those involved in a process aware of their work environment. If an employee is able to keep their own workplace tidy, this leads to overview, peace and focus. In the long run (and for the organization as a whole), this means an increase in productivity.

The method comes from Japan, where it stands for Seriri (Separate), Seiton (Arrange), Seiso (Clean), Seiketsu (Standardize) and Shitsuke (Stimulate). The method is also called “5S Housekeeping. The goal is to work more efficiently. In short, an efficient workplace is created by eliminating waste and by standardized setup.

The result is a safe, pleasant and clear workplace, with minimal waste and maximum efficiency.
