ISO audit
The ISO standard requires an assessment of whether the ISO quality management system is properly and effectively implemented and whether it actually works in practice. An audit is the assessment tool and enables organizations to continuously improve. The internal processes are scrutinized and evaluated.
Through an audit for ISO certification, adjustments can be made based on the evaluation and any improvement measures can be taken. So although the ISO audit is a mandatory component for ISO 9001 certification, it can be incredibly beneficial to the quality management system an organization is working with.
An external auditor does not give advice, but objectively determines whether your organization is in compliance. Audits are usually repeated periodically, often on an annual basis.
